We enjoyed its excellent location.
Location: the hotel was close enough to Close to Sanzenin, the nearest convenience store for food, and serene valley outside of the the Kyoto big city bustle. And it's around 10-15 minutes walk from Shinoshomon, ate there once or twice...

The outdoor onsen at Yumoto Onsen Oharasansou offered a stunning view of the surrounding forest, providing a truly serene and relaxing experience. The gardens with the koi pond were also delightful to admire during meals in the dining room. The cleanliness of the entire establishment, including the well-maintained toilets, was impressive. The hotel's location at the top of a hill offered breathtaking mountain views from the windows. Making my own bed with the extra futon mattresses provided ensured a comfortable and cozy sleep. Being able to escape the city and be close to nature was a refreshing experience. I highly recommend this hotel for a lovely and authentic Ryoken stay.

The staff are attentive and friendly, ensuring a warm welcome and a comfortable stay. The onsen experience is a must-try, with its convenient opening hours allowing guests to relax before or after dinner. Nestled in the serene mountains and surrounded by breathtaking temples, this hotel is perfect for nature lovers. With a final bus stop nearby, you'll find convenience in the rural Ohara area. The spacious and clean rooms make for a cozy stay after a long day of exploring. The local cuisine served during breakfast is a definite highlight of the stay, along with the tranquil views from the common areas.
The lack of luggage storage facility is a downside as it dampens the otherwise seamless experience.

The food, which was not up to usual Japanese standards of attention to detail. the rooms were smaller than expected.
